Make a Point of Making Eye Contact
Making eye contact when interacting with your children will ensure to them that they have your full attention. It can also provide your children with an understanding that you value and respect them by not focusing on something else. If you are in the middle of something and truly cannot be taken away from what you are doing, it is better to ask your child for a minute or two so that you can finish up than it is to only half pay attention to them. Other non-verbal cues that will have a similar effect include nodding and smiling.
