Easy Ways to Make Sure Your Kids Feel Loved

Put that phone down, now!

As I mentioned earlier, it is important to not use your phone when you are spending one-on-one time with your children. However, that shouldn’t be the only time that you disconnect from it. The truth is, there always seems to be something to do on our phones, whether that is responding to an important e-mail from your boss or wishing that friend you haven’t seen in years a Happy Birthday [insert birthday cake emoji here] on Facebook. But trust me, there is little that is more disheartening that witnessing a child trying to get their parents’ attention away from their little screen and back on them. “Mom, today in class during show and tell… mom! Mom? Mom, are you even listening to me?” I’m not saying that you shouldn’t ever be on your phone when your kids are around. That is neither realistic nor necessary. Just don’t be on it so much that your children begin questioning whether or not they are more important than how many likes the picture of your salad received on Instagram.
