On Health
Vaccinate Your Kids
Vaccination programs are the most successful public health campaign of all time. Through vaccination we have eradicated some pretty gnarly childhood diseases such as polio. With the antivax movement we have seen outbreaks of diseases that were almost completely wiped out such as measles and whooping cough. Studies have shown, again and again, that vaccines do not cause autism and will not harm your children.
Dental Hygiene is Important
Using a fluoride toothpaste, encourage your kids to brush twice a day. When they are little, help them brush by going over their teeth once they are done to make sure the job is thoroughly done. Cavities on baby teeth can be aggressive, so do your best to avoid them.
Be Vigilant About Safety
Thoroughly baby proof your home. Do not leave a child in the tub unattended. Install your car seats correctly and strap your children in tightly. Make your kid wear a helmet. Accidents happen, but the damage they do should be minimalized.
Listen to The Doctor
They have years of medical training and know more than you do. I know you did a google search and you think your child needs antibiotics for that fever, but listen to the doctor. If they say its viral and want to wait a few days before prescribing meds, follow their advice. Overuse of antibiotics, especially when they ae not necessary, can do more harm than good.
Keep Sunblock on Your Bathroom Counter
Apply it every morning as part of your routine. It will become as natural as brushing their teeth and combing their hair.
Put Your Baby to Bed Drowsy but Awake
This will help prevent bedtime problems in the future by teaching your baby to self soothe.
Know When to Toilet Train
Watch for signs that your child is ready and don’t rush it. It’s time to start when your child feels the urge to pee or poop – this is not the same as knowing that they have already gone, and they ask for a diaper change.
