Common Health Problems in Babies

Refusing Solid Food

It is easy to get caught up in guidelines such as milestones charts. There is so much external pressure to raise a child that is hitting certain milestones that it is easy to forget that babies are all unique. For instance, many of these charts suggest that babies should be interested in solid food at 6 months of age. However, that is not always the case. Many believe that babies should not even try solid food until the 12 month mark. It is also possible that your child does show interest in solid foods and then loses interest, wanting only breast milk or formula. This is totally normal; as long as you are making sure that they get enough. If they stop eating altogether, that is of course a reason for concern.
