10 Ways to Keep your Family and Pets Safe from Rabies

Get your Pets Vaccinated

This should go without saying but you might be surprised to learn how many people do not get their pets vaccinated. The number one reason for this is the associated costs. However, if you are not willing to spend the money to vaccinate your pet, you should not have one since you are putting others at risk. Once a puppy or kitten reaches three months of age they should already have their first vaccinations and then again before they turn one. After that, every three to four years you should bring your pet to the vet to get re-vaccinated. This usually depends on the laws in your specific state, province, or territory. Therefore, check online or ask your veterinarian or someone at your local animal control agency to see what the legal guidelines are.
