5. Lymphoma
There are two types of Lymphoma, Hodgkin (which tends to be more common in older children and adolescents) and non-Hodgkin (which is more prevalent in younger children). These cancers target the body’s lymphatic system, which makes up part of the immune system. Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is often more aggressive in nature. Symptoms to look out for are swollen lymph nodes and/or abdomen, unexplained weight loss and/or fatigue and a fever. Of course, these symptoms are associated with other conditions so speak to your child’s doctor if they happen to experience any of the above. Chemotherapy or radiation are usually the go to treatment for lymphatic cancers.
