5. A Sock and Some Rice

A homemade heating pad made out of a sock filled with rice can do wonders for pain such as a sore back from too many cartwheels and are super easy to make. Just get a sock (preferably one that is clean), fill it with whatever rice you happen to have in your cupboard, tie the end and microwave it until it is warm.

Be careful not to leave it in for too long or apply it to your child’s skin while it is too hot, as you don’t want your child who is already in pain to experience any more unnecessarily.
