Home Remedies: 7 Natural Pain Relievers for Children

3. Egg Whites

It shouldn’t need to be said but if your child suffers from a serious burn, call an ambulance or bring them to the emergency room right away. Although there is some disagreement about its effectiveness, if your child burns themselves and it is not severe (no blisters), some swear that applying egg whites to the skin can provide them with some relief. Some go as far as to say that the relief is immediate.

One way to do this is to separate the yolks from the whites (feel free to use the yolks to make a cake) and dip some gauze into the whisked egg whites and apply the soaked gauze to the burn. The relief is meant to last for a few hours after being applied. Some state that a baking soda paste, like the one we mentioned above, is as effective with burns as it is with big bites.

Again, this remedy should only be used for minor burns since more serious burns can have lifelong effects such as nerve damage.
