Easy Ways to be an Effective Parent

Reduce Dinner Time Stress

Keep Dishing It Up, Over and Over and Over
When your child rejects a new food don’t just give up and make them hotdogs – it might take up to ten times before they eat it. Keep making your meals, your kids will eventually give in.

Don’t Fight Over Food
Your kids know when they are full. If they refuse to finish what is on their plate, just let it go. They aren’t going to starve. If you think that they haven’t eaten enough, just offer up the same food if they complain of hunger within the next hour.

Eat as a Family Every Day
Sitting down at the table as a family is a relaxed way to connect. It doesn’t have to be every meal, but being together allows everyone to share happy news, talk about their day or tell a joke, all while helping the kids develop healthy eating habits.

Let Them Have a Say
Once a week, let your kids choose what is for dinner and cook that.
