Teach Your Children Social Skills
Ask Your Children ‘You’ Questions
Having good conversation skills is important, but parents sometimes forget to teach them. Asking your child three ‘you’ questions a day will help to reinforce this social skill. It’s as simple as asking them “What would you like to do today?”, “Did you have fun at school today?”, “What would you like to have for snack?”
Encourage Strong Emotions
After a meltdown, ask your child “How did that feel?” and “What will make it better?”. Then, listen to them. Using this trick will help them to recover from their tantrum quicker and give them the skills to talk it out.
Teach Them Bravery
One simple trick for teaching bravery to your kids, is to encourage them to always look at the color of someone’s eyes when they are talking. Making eye contact will help your child appear, and eventually become, more confident and assertive.
