3. Give Them a Challenge
We know that dealing with toddlers is a challenge, and we don’t mean to suggest that you add conflict between you. Instead, we are suggesting that you provide your child with some control of the situation. By doing so, you are increasing the likelihood that they will co-operate. Toddlers love showing you (and others) how smart and capable they are.
So, although it might be almost painful to watch them do something that would literally take you seconds, like putting on their shoes by themselves, doing so will have benefits in the long run. One trick that also works is timing them to see how long it takes them to do a task, which will give them more motivation to get it done more quickly.
